February often puts love front and center with beautiful red roses, chocolate hearts, and reminders of Valentine’s Day everywhere we turn. While those things can be sweet, Scripture invites us to something deeper and far more lasting: a love that acts.
“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18
Biblical love isn’t just a feeling we fall into; it’s a choice we live out daily. God’s love for us is the perfect example: steady, sacrificial, and generous. He calls us to reflect that same love to the people He has placed in our lives.
“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” — 1 Peter 4:8
Love at Home
Love often starts in the most familiar places, yet those can be the hardest places to love well.
To a Spouse:
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” — Ephesians 5:25
To Children:
“Let all your things be done with charity.” — 1 Corinthians 16:14
Love Beyond Our Walls
God’s love was never meant to stay contained within our homes.
To Neighbors:
“And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” — Mark 12:31
To Co-Workers:
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” — Colossians 3:23
Love That Points to Jesus
When we love in ordinary, tangible ways, we reflect the heart of Christ.
“We love him, because he first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19
This Valentine’s season, may our love look like something real: grace instead of frustration, generosity instead of convenience, and action instead of intention.
Let’s be a people whose love is seen, felt, and remembered. Not just this month, but every day.
